Sh*t That Comes Out Today – December 8, 2023
This week’s been full of new and exciting tour announcements for 2024. Who are you most excited to catch live next year?
Dimmu Borgir
Inspiratio Proganus (Nuclear Blast)
Who doesn’t love a good covers album? After the release of their last studio album Eonian, Dimmu Borgir are back with an album that Silenoz has gone on the record saying is an official attempt at compiling the covers they’ve done over the years. This one’s featuring tracks by Venom, Bathory, Celtic Frost, Deep Purple and more.
HEALTH
Rat Wars (Loma Vista Recordings)
Described by the band as a more melodic offering, Rat Wars actually came out yesterday, but we won’;t hold that against it. If you like industrial music, but want that post-punk/metal/avant-garde flair that HEALTH’s known for, then Rat Wars will definitely be one to check out.
Jarhead Fertilizer
Carceral Warfare (Closed Casket Activities)
If you want sheer rip-your-face-off brutality, then check out Carceral Warfare. As Jarhead Fertilizer’s sophomore full-length record and follow up to their debut album Product of My Environment, this new offering is mad and deeply personal, dealing with the fucked up shit drummer/vocalist Dave Bland’s late father went through in prison.
Polkadot Cadaver
Echoes Across The Hellscape (Razor To Wrist)
This entry’s really for me and any of the weirdos out there that love avant-garde metal. Born out of the ashes of Dog Fashion Disco’s break up, the band features many of the same members and really is the natural progression of what Todd Smith and Jasan Stepp were doing. They’re the kind of band that you either love ’em or hate ’em, but if you give them a fair shake, you might just fall into the former camp.
Wrath of Logarius
Necrotic Assimilation (Season Of Mist)
Described as “formless black metal,” Wrath of Logarius is a relatively new trio in the genre emerging from Northern California back in 2021. Moving through various forms of black and death metal, this outfit constantly keeps you on your toes with each track. Just in the track below, “The Burning One,” things move and shift in such a way that it demands your attention.
