Not Even a Kiss Song Could Keep This Glam Metal Vocalist on The Masked Singer
Let’s just get this out of the way from the jump: it was ex-Skid Row vocalist Sebastian Bach who was most recently voted off of the long-running singing competition on Fox, The Masked Singer. I didn’t want to spoil it outright in the headline, since I bet there are more of you guys that watch this show than you want to admit. It’s okay, I’ll keep your secret.
Yet last night, dressed up as a fruity tiki drink, Bach was hilariously eliminated in the Group B finals during a rock-centric episode that should have been tailor-made for his talents.
With Kelly Osbourne and Poison frontman Bret Michaels as guest panelists and former contestants, Bach performed Kiss‘ 1979 song “I Was Made For Lovin’ You” before landing in a head-to-head competition against someone dressed as a “sea queen” — whatever that is. The song they were tasked with performing was Poison’s “Nothing But A Good Time,” which Bach should have killed, but he was voted out.
Panelist Nicole Scherzinger was the only one to correctly name Bach as the person behind the tiki costume after getting a clue from Osbourne that linked the Pussycat Dolls singer to a performance in Japan where Skid Row also played.
“I am just so over the moon right now because I’ve been a massive fan of yours. Yes, you’re a Rock God, you’re a legend, but you’re a brilliant vocalist. You can do anything with your voice.”
Speaking of his time on the show, Bach said he was surprised at how focused it was on vocals and actual singing.
“When I first agreed to be on the show, I thought it was mostly about comedy and costumes, which it definitely is! But when I actually did the show, I realized that The Masked Singer is about SINGING! Which I love to do! I had an incredible time doing the show. My favorite song that I got to do was ‘Magic’ by Pilot. The high clean tenor sound of that vocal is incredible to sing for me! It was great making new friends and getting to put on a crazy show with awesome music! Thank you to Nick Cannon and all at the Masked Singer! Would love to do it again sometime!”
Bach isn’t the only rock or metal vocalist to make their way onto The Masked Singer, as Dee Snider, Chris Jericho, Chris Daughtry, Osbourne, and Michaels have all competed in the past.
Now that Bach’s off the show, he’s since released a new single “What Do I Got To Lose?” and has a few shows coming up in 2024, which you can check out below.
