Now You Too Can Flail Along to DragonForce’s “Power of the Saber Blade” in a Popular VR Game

0

A new track from power metal stalwarts DragonForce will not only be featured in their upcoming album Warp Speed Warriors, but is now also a part of the popular VR game Beat Saber‘s long list of available songs.

Released earlier today, the single also has a hilariously cheesy music video that honestly made me chuckle a couple times. It’s obvious these guys don’t take themselves seriously and that’s okay. As you’d expect, the song is fast and operatic. It’s a DragonForce ass DragonForce song.

As for its inclusion in Beat Saber, it’s part of the game’s sixth official soundtrack, or OST. The tracks listed in the OST are offered up for free to all players of the game across the various VR platforms, including PlayStation VR and PlayStation VR 2. Other artists featured in the free release include Lindsey Stirling, Camellia, and Far Out.

For those that don’t know, Beat Saber is a VR game where you dodge obstacles and use two lightsaber-looking things to smack blocks. Do it accurately and in time with the song and you’ll get a high score. Though getting a high score might be hard on the higher difficulties, as DragonForce said their song comes in at a whopping 10.66 notes per minute. Hope your arms don’t get tired!

Guitarist and noted nerd Herman Li said he and his bandmates were stoked that their new song is part of the game.

“It’s truly an honour for DRAGONFORCE to create an exclusive track for Beat Saber, a game we are wholeheartedly passionate about. We hope fans will discover the exhilaration of ‘Power of the Saber Blade,’ finding it both enjoyable and challenging across all levels. We’re eagerly anticipating the skillful attempts on Expert+”

Warp Speed Warriors will be available on March 15 via Napalm Records, but you can preorder your copy today.
