DevilDriver Guitarist Mike Spreitzer Has a New Project Coming Called Verona On Venus

0

Fan of DevilDriver but want to see what else one of their members can put out there in the world? Then you’re gonna want to pay attention to a new project from guitarist Mike Spreitzer that promises to deliver just that, called Verona On Venus.

The band’s debut album, Popular Delusions, will come out January 19. The album’s first first single, “Rodent,” will drop December 1 with an accompanying video directed by Vincent Cordero. Spreitzer is doing vocals and most of the instruments, minus the drums, which were tracked by Austin D’Amond, also formerly of DevilDriver.

The band’s vibe is very industrial and goth, and Spreitzer draws inspiration from the goth rave music he grew up with alongside metal.

“There’s a dark and unruly side of music that has been lost. It’s time to rediscover, reemerge, and remind people that the uncomfortable and unsettling should not be forgotten.

“This album wasn’t so much a discovery of myself but more so a confirmation that I could go to a place within myself that was buried. I finally pushed myself to uncover this side of me.”

We don’t have much more info right now, but it definitely seems like this could be the start of a really interesting project, and one that, as much as we love DevilDriver, will definitely not just be a rehashing of that band, and will take things in a very new and interesting direction.

In addition to the original songs, their first album will feature a cover of Acid Bath‘s “The Bones Of Baby Dolls.” Those who aren’t afraid to embrace their goth roots will definitely embrace this new band.
