Many Eyes Released Their New Single “Mystic Cord”

Maybe it’s just me, but I absolutely see Ex-Every Time I Die vocalist Keith Buckley and his new band Many Eyes as the antithesis to his former bandmates’ new band Better Lovers. And while yesterday saw the release of that band’s latest single, today sees the release of “Mystic Cord,” the latest single from Many Eyes.

The new track is the band’s second single, following “Revelation,” which was also a banger. Flanked by his bandmates Nick and Charlie Bellmore, Buckley sounds every bit as furious on this one. Sonically, it sounds like a mashup of metalcore and 90s alternative or grunge, especially during its big and anthemic pre-chorus.

Speaking about the song, Buckley said the overall theme of “Mystic Cord” is about getting rid of the past in order to move forward.

“Lyrically, the song is about untangling ourselves from the traditions that bind us to past trauma. I hoped to express the idea that it’s not enough to just put up a boundary, there has to be the deeper, more difficult work of separating one’s entire life path from the path of those who harm us.”

In addition to the new single, the band has been revealed as a supporting act with the reunited Rival Schools for Thursday’s upcoming tour, which will kick off on January 25 in Buffalo, New York and come to and end at New York City’s Irving Plaza on February 24.
