Bring Me The Horizon Cancels Show Mid-Set Over Safety Concerns, Fans Storm the Stage
Angry fans stormed the stage at a Bring Me the Horizon show in Jakarta, Indonesia over the weekend, after the band cut their set halfway through due to some scary safety concerns.
According to an Instagram story by frontman Oli Sykes, the cancellation occurred when the band’s team pulled the performers after determining that the stage could potentially suffer a collapse. Needless to say, that sort of thing would have been absolutely catastrophic, so no one was taking any risks with that.
“While we were performing last night, we got pulled off after one of our songs due to concerns from our crew and some of the local crew that the staging, the trust, basically a lot of the venue was structurally unsound.
It was bouncing so much that a lot of the video monitors, speakers, basically everything was bouncing at a really concerning amount and there were serious concerns that something would happen. The structure could’ve fallen and hurt people or worse, so we had no choice but to cancel the show.
Unfortunately due to that situation, we can’t play tonight either. We’ve looked at everything we could do. We kinda suggested that we take our video screens away, we take out lights away and just play some kind of stripped back show.”
The band were 11 songs into their set when the decision to end the show happened. Of course, structural integrity issues with the stage should never be ignored.
Following an announcement at the show that the night was over, fans got angry and pushed through security before jumping up on stage. While up there, the fans sang songs and threw things all around. Some reports include the fans fucking with the band’s equipment on stage too, which isn’t a great look at all.
In the wake of the cancellation, promoter Raven Jundary said what happened was unfortunate and that the second day of the show was also canceled. To make things right, fans would be able to get “proportional refunds” for the full day and full refunds for the second day.
“I, Ravel Junardy as the promoter of Ravel Entertainment, would like to clarify and apologize profusely for the lack of a setlist for the main performers on the first day of the show due to technical difficulties.
And we regret to inform you that the second day of the show had to be cancelled. As a form of responsibility, Ravel Entertainment will provide proportional refunds for the first day and also full refunds for the second day.”
