Lockin’ Out Records Releases Riley Gale’s Cicadas Comic Anthology
A little-known fact about Riley Gale, the late vocalist of Power Trip, is that he was working on a comic anthology. His work, Cicadas, has been finished by friends and collaborators and released via Lockin’ Out Records.
Gale started on the project a few years ago, and was compiling work from artists he admired and friends he had connections with. H was planning on selling the book at the Power Trip merch table, and had reached out to a few artist contacts to get going. Of course, he passed away before he was able to complete it, but that doesn’t mean friends and collaborators are giving up.
Of course, the rest of Power Trip released a statement on the new comic release, stating that they were happy to help make one of Gale’s dreams possible.
“We decided to pick up the anthology and finish in a way that Riley hopefully would’ve been proud of, getting the contributor list reassembled and printing the 100-plus page book in full color. This has taken us nearly three years to get together.”
As for the anthology itself, it includes comics from Anya Davidson, Chris Wilson and Jason Tarpey, Dylan Chadwick, JB Roe and Aubrey Sitterson, Joseph Kelly, Josh Bayer, Josh Simmons, Lale Westvind, Lando, Lane Milburn, Marc Bell, Nick Kucway, Stathis Tsemberlidis, and Stellar Leuna with a cover by Ken Fontaine.
All proceeds will be donated to a suicide, addiction, and mental health awareness group called Foundation 45 in honor of Gale.
Though he may have passed away tragically and way too early in his life and career, it’s but through projects like this, that Gale’s legacy is still continuing.
