Lawsuit Against Marilyn Manson Gets Snot-Rocketed Back Into Court
Shock rocker Marilyn Manson‘s legal problems look like they’ll continue into 2024, as a lawsuit that was previously dismissed in court is now back on the table.
The suit revolves around a 2019 incident that took place during a Marilyn Manson (real name Brian Warner) concert in New Hampshire. During that show, Manson allegedly spat on and blew his nose out on Susan Fountain, a videographer covering the event.
In her complaint, Fountain said Manson “crouched down, leaned forward, and brought his face level with (her) camera lens” before spitting onto it, which naturally also got on the photographer’s hand. Shortly after that super awesome and totally not dickish move, Manson allegedly targeted Fountain again, only this time he fired a “second bodily fluid attack” that involved an old fashioned snot rocket that apparently hit her arms and legs.
Manson had apparently suffered from swine flu some time before the show, so Fountain went to a hospital to make sure she hadn’t contracted any diseases from the rocker. Which… yeah. Makes sense.
The case had originally been dismissed by a Los Angeles judge this past February when Fountain’s lawyer failed to appear in court when the trail was set to begin due to a serious medical issue. The lawyer, Jennifer A. Clingo, appealed the dismissal and also admitted that she’d failed to properly mark the trial date on her calendar.
Since the mistake was found before a six-month deadline to appeal the dismissal, Judge Anne Hwang permitted the civil case to go back to trial. None of Manson’s representatives were present in court.
If any parts of this case sound familiar, that’s because it’s based on the same incident to which Manson pleaded no contest to back in September in a New Hampshire court. A no contest plea doesn’t mean he admits any guilt or wrongdoing. Following his plea, Manson was hit with a $1,200 (with part suspended) fine and compelled to serve 20 hours of community service.
According to a report by Rolling Stone, Fountain had originally sued Manson back in August 2021 for claims of assault, battery, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
Following that case, Fountain said she entire ordeal was embarrassing to have to deal with.
“In all the years I’ve worked with people, I’ve never been humiliated or treated the way I was by this defendant. For him to spit on me and blow his nose on me was the most disgusting thing a human being has ever done.”
