Racetraitor Tap Refused’s Dennis Lyxzén for Their New Single “Pastoral Monolith”
Chicago-based hardcore punk band Racetraitor have a new album coming soon and to get people hyped for the impending release, they dropped the album’s third single “Pastoral Monolith,” featuring Refused‘s Dennis Lyxzén.
The new album, Creation and the Timeless Order of Things, is a 13-track attack on the status quo due for release on November 17 via Good Fight Music.
As for “Pastoral Monolith,” the song is dark, brooding, and at times absolutely fucking batshit. Featuring screams by vocalist Mani Mostofi and Lyxzén, the band seems to take the very real horrors of colonialism and distills them into a caustic 91 seconds of rage.
Speaking of working with Lyxzén, the band said they were driven to write the song based on the colonial rape of Africa.
“The song is about the lasting and devastating impacts of British colonialism in Nigeria. In the past few weeks, we have seen Israels attacks on Gaza which also have their historical roots in British colonialism.
“The song features guest vocals from Dennis Lyxzén, who is a longtime friend and co-conspirator of the band. The video has images and quotes from various activists and artists who have fought back against colonialism, settler colonialism, and their capitalist systems.”
