Inkcarceration Music & Tattoo Festival Will Be Chimaira’s First Festival Gig in 14 Years
Late last week, we noticed a little post on Chimaira‘s Instagram account that suggested they had something planned for their 25th anniversary. We speculated whether it was a new box set or maybe an anniversary tour, but it’s looking like we might have gotten a potential hint, as the New Wave of American Heavy Metal outfit’s been announced as one of the bands playing next year’s Inkcarceration Music & Tattoo Festival.
According to their Instagram post, this will be the band’s first U.S. festival appearance since 2010.
“We are pleased to announce our first US Festival appearance in 14 years. Join us this July at the Mansfield Reformatory for Inkcarceration Festival 2024!
Tickets are on sale now at https://inkcarceration.com
More announcements to come this week.” https://www.instagram.com/reel/CzEa6lxghl2/
That last bit in particular is super interesting… “more announcements to come this week.” Does that mean we’ll get a tour announcement? Sure feels that way…
Though Chimaira broke up in 2014. the band’s since played three reunion shows: one in 2017 and two commemorating the 20th anniversary of The Impossibility of Reason that took place on Friday May 12 and Saturday May 13 at the Agora Theatre in Cleveland, Ohio.
In all three instances, the band’s lineup was Mark Hunter (vocals), Rob Arnold and Matt DeVries (guitar), Jim LaMarca (bass) and Chris Spicuzza (keys, etc.), though drummer Austin D’Amond was also behind the kit.
So yeah, we’ll keep an eye out for any new Chimaira announcements as they happen, but for now you’ve got at least one show coming up next year.
