Tony Iommi Recently Met with Ex-Black Sabbath Vocalist Tony Martin
A recent social media post reveals that former Black Sabbath vocalist Tony Martin met with Tony Iommi. About what, we can only speculate. The two former bandmates look like they were chumming it up earlier this week, but that one image has led fans all over to wonder what it could mean.
“Visited Tony Iommi today … Great meet. He is such a busy bloke at the moment but got to listen to some stuff and also show him some stuff before he had to rush off but… Very cool.”
So far, fans and critics have speculated that this could be about finally getting Black Sabbath’s I.R.S. Records-era albums up on streaming sites. Fans have also been waiting patiently for that previously announced box set of the Martin-era of Black Sabbath, but it’s almost the end of 2023 and we’ve gotten no new information on that at all.
Others think the unlikely thing could happen and the two could be working on a project together or making new music.
In 2022, Martin told Ultimate Guitar that the two Tony’s were planning something together.
“I got a phone call today,” Martin said at the time. “You’re one of the first people to hear this. Black Sabbath’s manager, Tony Iommi’s manager, called me and said they now have got a record deal for the Tony Martin era. So that means that they can go ahead and rerelease the Tony Martin albums.”
“They were all working together in their own territories at the time. But yeah, not the Eternal Idol album. That one’s owned by somebody else. But certainly the other Tony Martin albums now can be re-released. So that’s exciting news.”
We won’t know for sure until the two announce more, but in a perfect world, the news would be those rare albums becoming available and a new project. Only time will tell.
