Korn and Adidas Formally Announce New Clothing Partnership
Back in the mid to late 90s, nu metal pioneers Korn had a specific look that borrowed from the same love of sportswear that hip hop artists had at the time. Skate shoes, track suits, and the like were part of the uniform and despite a brief attempt at securing a deal with Adidas, that fell through and the band’s move to Puma was all but solidified.
Yet earlier this year, we learned of a collaboration between the Bakersfield, California-based band and the German athletic apparel brand that would bring about a Korn-branded line of shoes and clothes. We learned of the various designs and what the final products would likely look like through internal documents that made their way outside the company. And now we know, thanks to the official announcement from Korn and Adidas, that those leaks were true.
For the first time ever, Adidas Originals and Korn are releasing a special collection of clothing specifically designed around the band’s sophomore album Life Is Peachy. You know, the 1996 album that featured “A.D.I.D.A.S.” in the tracklist.
Set for release next Friday, the Korn x Adidas project will feature two sneakers, called the Campus 00s and the Supermodified, as well as two graphic t-shirts, a three-stripes hoodie with the band’s logo on the front, and two signature takes on the quintessential Adidas Originals tracksuit — one in black with white accents and one with purple sequins.
While this may seem like brand new news to most metalheads, if you’re a shoe collector you’ve probably already known about this since last February, as Kicks Finder had the first details way back then.
Eagle eyed fans might have noticed those clothes earlier this year when Korn took the stage for Sick New World, as the band was rocking the line right there. Though it would be hard to miss Jonathan Davis’ flashy purple sequined track suit.
According to initial yet unconfirmed reports, the items will have a hefty price tag, with the Campus 00s shoes coming in at $130, while the Supermodified shoes will set you back $140. The two t-shirts could cost $50 for one style and $60 for the other, while the hoodie will cost $120. As for the full tracksuits, the purple sequined one will cost $120 for the pants and $180 for the top, while the black and white tracksuit will cost $100 for the top and $80 for the pants.
We’ll have to wait until October 27 when it drops on COMFIRMED and the Adidas app to find out the actual prices and availability, but if you’re a fan of that look and love Korn, you might want to save up your cash now.
