Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda Drops Solo Track “Already Over”
A new solo track from Linkin Park‘s Mike Shinoda was released earlier today, giving fans of the iconic band a taste of what the musician’s been cooking lately. The track, titled “Already Over,” is available wherever you stream new music.
Though he’s been busy as of late with projects that include contributing a song to the Scream VI soundtrack, Shinoda said the inspiration for “Already Over” came directly from his involvement in Linkin Park.
“‘Already Over’ came to me as I was sitting with my favorite guitar in my hands — the same guitar I used on songs from ‘What I’ve Done’ to ‘In My Head’. There was a familiar DNA to the song that I think Linkin Park fans will recognize. For me, it creates a bridge from the past to a blurry but exciting future.”
Shinoda’s been releasing solo music since the 2018 release of the Post Traumatic EP, which dealt directly with the death of Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington back in 2017. Since then, he’s released some additional songs here and there.
In addition to the new track, Shinoda revealed that there will be an accompanying game to play on his website next week.
“In the bigger picture, this release takes some of my favorite things about releasing music and assembles them in a different way — with more music, games, challenges, great things to watch, and lots of new art on the way.”
