See You Next Tuesday’s New Video is a Twofer of Sonic Pain
Earlier this year, the world was once again introduced to the Midwest mathcore cacophony that is See You Next Tuesday with the release of their first album since 2008, Distractions. It was an admittedly unexpected return, but a welcome one all the same, as each new single reminded us just how fucking punishing these guys can be.
Fast forward several months and we’re back here saying “oh right, these guys fucking rule” with this morning’s release of the video for a two-for-one music video situation for the tracks “I’ll Never Be the Same” and “I’ll Never Smile Again.” Directed by Tony Coon, the video is full of rage, fury, unsettling images, blood, madness… really all the kind of insanity you’d expect from a band like See You Next Tuesday.
According to vocalist Chris Fox, the decision to tap director Coon for the video largely stemmed from the band’s need for a collaborative partner that could help convey the sheer insanity found in both tracks.
“Tony was introduced to us through our friends (and main subjects in the video) Chris and Eddie. Tony expressed interest in working with us and after viewing his portfolio we couldn’t say no.
“Tony and I collaborated on ideas for the video based on the lyrics. The concept of a story within a story and realizing the original story is about you. A bit confusing, but I have no idea how to explain better in summary. Tony executed it perfectly and we are so stoked on it and excited to work with him again in the future.”
If you’re still unaware of these guys, you need to educate yourself. Definitely check out their latest album Distractions, released this past February via Good Fight Music.
