Ozzy Has Plans for a New Album in 2024
What’s that? You think Ozzy would stop for a moment and take a fucking break given his health issues? Pfft. Get real. As it turns out, the “Prince of Darkness” has his eyes set on working on his 14th studio album next year.
During an interview with Metal Hammer, Osbourne said he had plans for his third album in a decade. Not only that, but the 74-year-old metal icon wants to take that album out on the road.
“I’m getting myself fit. I’ve done two albums fairly recently [both produced by Andrew Watt], but I want to do one more album and then go back on the road.”
In recent years, a nagging back injury he sustained from an ATV accident in the early 2000s has kept him sidelined from any significant touring duties. Most recently, he had to cancel an European tour with Judas Priest and his planned appearance at the Power Trip festival next month because of his health issues.
To that end, Ozzy told Metal Hammer that his most recent neck surgery was a success and that he’s recovering well.
“I’m feeling okay – it was just dragging on. I thought I’d be back on my feet months ago, I just couldn’t get used to this mode of living, constantly having something wrong. I can’t walk properly yet, but I’m not in any pain any more and the surgery on my spine went great.”
It’s great that his most recent surgery went well, especially since he told his family during a recent taping of The Osbournes podcast that it would be his last one regardless of the outcome.
“Tomorrow I have my final surgery on my neck. Which it is gonna be the final surgery, because I can’t do it anymore. Regardless of the way it ends up after tomorrow, I’m not doing it anymore. I can’t.”
We’re really pulling for Ozzy to not only get to keep making music, but also to be able to perform in front of a crowd again. After everything he’s gone through in recent memory with his health, it would be absolutely awesome to see him to the thing he loves.
