Stone Temple Pilots Replace Pantera on Aftershock Festival

0

After the news broke yesterday that Pantera was no longer able to perform at next month’s Aftershock Festival, we now know who’s taking their prime spot on the bill. And brace yourselves, metal fans — instead of Pantera, you’re getting… Stone Temple Pilots! Definitely a 1-to-1 replacement, right?

The announcement actually came just before Pantera revealed that “circumstances beyond our control” forced them to drop off the bill. Though Stone Temple Pilots have seen a bit of a comeback despite the deaths of not just original vocalist Scott Weiland, but also his replacement and equally talented vocalist Chester Bennington. But still, it’s probably a hard pill to swallow for anyone that was banking on hearing “Fucking Hostile” live, rather than “Interstate Love Song.”

“Aftershock family, due to unforeseen circumstances, Pantera is no longer able to join us next month. We’re excited to share that @stpband has stepped up to perform with us on Thursday, October 5 and are thrilled to announce that while Pantera can no longer make it this year, they’ll be joining us in 2024!

“Also new to the Aftershock 2023 lineup is DWP’s own, @ImperialTide! After winning a #DWPresents Twitch competition with us in 2021, we brought on members of their band to our group of talented creatives who help illustrate and design many of the art pieces you see published on our brands today. We’re beyond proud of this group of individuals and are excited to showcase their musical talent for you all on Saturday, October 7th!

See you soon ????”

Pantera is still committed to playing the Louder Than Life Festival tomorrow, so if you’re planning on going to Kentucky for that lineup, you’re still in the clear.

Aside from Louder Than Life, however, the band is apparently still committed to performing on Metallica’s M72 World Tour. You can find the full list of dates planned for the rest of 2023, as well as a few 2024 gigs, down below.
