P.O.D. Got Randy Blythe to Guest on Their New Single “Drop”
Christian nu metal act P.O.D. just put out a new single called “Drop” and it’s… kinda cool? I mean, there are slow parts with clean vocals by Sonny Sandoval that really don’t do much for me, but that one riff’s pretty heavy and that’s cool.
Oh, and they got Lamb of God frontman Randy Blythe to infuse a little more punch to the track at around the 1:30 mark that wasn’t there when the band debuted the song live while on tour with Jinjer last November.
Sandoval hyped up the track in a prepared statement, saying it traffics in the band’s unique sound and supposed “punk-rock mentality.”
“‘DROP’ is another one of a kind, unparalleled banger that sets this band apart from everyone else. When you hear it, you know it’s P.O.D.!”
I’m not sure you’d never hear something like this from any other band, since it’s definitely adopting a more modern approach to nu-metal, but who am I to say?
Recently, P.O.D. guitarist Marcos Curiel revealed during a radio interview that the band’s new album Veritas would be coming sometime in 2024. Naturally, “Drop” will land on that release and will be just one of a handful of songs that will incorporate guest spots from other vocalists, including Tatiana Shmailyuk from Jinjer and Cove Reber, of Scaring Kids and Saosin.
At this time, there’s no solid release date for Veritas, but once we know more, you’ll know too.
