Watch Leprous Drummer Baard Kolstad Tear Through “Nighttime Disguise”

Watching someone absolutely kill it on the drums will never not be mesmerizing to me. The amount of coordination and timing needed to look like a fucking wizard behind the kit is wild. So when I started watching this video of Baard Kolstad, drummer of Norwegian prog metal act Leprous, tear through “Nighttime Disguise,” I was spellbound.

Released less than an hour ago, the video shows Kolstad running through the song, which was originally released back in 2021 on the band’s album Aphelion. Filmed and recorded with Stamos Koliousis and edited by Fredrik Schumacher, the video is actually the second time Kolstad released a drum playthrough, with the first being his rundown of “Have You Ever?”

According to the band, the video was released to promote not only a run of dates in Europe and South America that’s coming up real soon, but also the “tour edition” of Aphelion that was released back in February.

Within those aforementioned tour dates will be a pair of special shows to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Coal on November 2 in Groningen, The Netherlands and November 3 at Damnnation Festival in Manchester, U.K. The full list of dates can be found below the video.
