Ozzy Needs Another Surgery: “I’m In a Lot of Pain”
Aging rock god Ozzy Osbourne will require another operation to treat the deteriorating condition in his spine, the musician said on his podcast “The Osbournes” (via Blabbermouth). The spine and related issues are related to a fall he had in 2019 that exacerbated issues from a quad crash he had in 2003. He explained the condition:
“My lower back is, I’m going for an epidural soon because what’s happening, what they’ve discovered is the neck has been fixed, below the neck there’s two vertebrae where the bike hit me and disintegrated, there’s nothing left of ’em.”
On the podcast, Ozzy’s son Jack asked if the doctors were fusing the discs, to which Ozzy replied that he doesn’t know “what the fuck they’re doing.”
“All I know is right now, I’m in a lot of pain, I’m in a lot of discomfort.
He expressed hope that the surgery would allow him a better quality of life, but his wife and manager Sharon Osbourne clarified that the doctors said they couldn’t guarantee anything.
“I said to the doctor yesterday, you know what I’ve heard, which I have, people have discs replaced that are worked on and they become the strongest things in the bone.”
The singer also explained why he walks in a way that puts his head in front of his body:
“In my back, the two discs, and the muscles on my shoulders have separated from my skeleton, and that’s why I lean forward as it’s like gravity is bringing my head forward.”
Osbourne was forced to cancel his appearance at Power Trip due to the worsening health conditions. Unfortunately it wasn’t his first cancelation, as those health issues and his catching COVID-19 forced him to cancel other tours and appearances as well. The 74-year-old singer expressed a desire to return to the stage if he’s able but only time will tell. We’re rooting for Ozzy.
