Prong’s New Single “The Descent” Takes Aim at Modern Media

0

There’s no shortage of songs criticizing the overly-connected nature of today’s world, but few are as badass as the latest single from Prong. As you’ll see once you hit play on “The Descent” down below, New York City’s Tommy Victor is no stranger to the kind of heavy riffs and brutally honest commentary. Yet with just a month left before the band’s new album State of Emergency drops, it feels like he’s fired a warning shot across the bow.

Melding aspects of punk, thrash, and heavy metal in the furnace that is Prong, Victor said “The Descent” is aims to call out the bullshit methods the mainstream media depicts the world today.

“‘The Descent’ has a narrative of isolation, confusion, and hopelessness due to the intervention of media.”

Looking forward to the October 6 release of State of Emergency, Victor said he felt the new slate of songs was a “very ‘Prong’ record” and stood to be a “totally genre-transcending” release.

“I like all kinds of music. This record totally reflects that because it covers lots of different angles. At the same time, State Of Emergency is very guitar-oriented and a typical example of my style.”

State of Emergency will be released on October 6, though you can preorder your copy today.
