Bruce Dickinson Hints Something’s Coming: “I Can’t Tell You What but You’ll Be Happy”
Iron Maiden frontman and your pilot for today’s excursion Bruce Dickinson hinted in a recent video that the band has something in the works that’s going to please a lot of the band’s fans. Though neither he nor drummer Nicko McBrain would say exactly what’s coming, what we do know is it’ll be a while before we’ll hear anything from the band.
The little tidbits of information offered by the two men came during a video the band posted yesterday thanking their European fans for a successful tour through the continent. And while they’re not done touring — they have three Canadian dates and a scheduled performance during the Power Trip Festival this October — they’re already thinking about the future.
But before anything new will happen, McBrain said the band will have to cool their heels a bit at the end of 2023 and what I’ll assume to be the early parts of 2024.
“We’re going to take a little time off and think about what we’re going to do after.”
Dickinson was even more cagey:
“Something else will happen. I can’t tell you what but you’ll be happy.”
Now, I know the easy guess is another new album, but let me bend your ear for a second — Powerslave turns 40 next year… I’m smelling anniversary box sets, an entire anniversary tour, and all the other ways a band can capitalize on a supremely influential release.
Either way, you can catch Iron Maiden at the following dates:
September 28 – Calgary, AB – Scotiabank Saddledome
September 30 – Edmonton, AB – Rogers Place
October 2 – Vancouver, BC – Rogers Arena
October 6 – Indio, CA – Power Trip Festival
