Green Lung Unveil Their Next Album This Heathen Land with the New Single “Mountain Throne”

Fans of the type of occult rock that peddles in high octane riffs, Green Lung are back and planning to release their third album, titled This Heathen Land, this November. And to give you all a little taste, the British outfit dropped the album’s first single, “Mountain Throne.”

Having listened to the track numerous times now, I gotta say that this thing is catchy as all hell. Vocalist Tom Templar said the band was excited to get the new nine-track release out to the public, since they’ve been working on it since 2018.

“We couldn’t be more excited to share This Heathen Land with the world. This album is the culmination of five years of work as a band; an odyssey into the weird and wonderful world of British folklore that melds together our myriad influences – classic rock, doom, NWOBHM, horror film soundtracks, the BBC Radiophonic Workshop – and fashions something out of them that is utterly our own.”

According to Templar, today’s single release made perfect sense, since it was the first track they wrote and completed for the new record, effectively setting the tone for the rest of the album.

“‘Mountain Throne’ was the first song we wrote for the album, and feels like a natural bridge from the old Green Lung to the new. We’ve always been inspired by the story of the Pendle Witches, and such an iconic subject required an epic rallying cry of a song – we hope that we’ve done these folk heroes justice!”

This Heathen Land will be released via Nuclear Blast Records on November 3, but you can preorder your copy on various formats today. If you’re going to be in Europe this fall, you can catch Green Lung live at any of the dates as supporting acts for any of the concerts listed below.
