Mutoid Man Summons “Demons” in Their Latest Single
We’re a little more than two weeks out from the release of Mutoid Man‘s newest studio release Mutants and as such, we now have the third and final pre-release single, titled “Demons.” And just as was the case with the two previous tracks “Call of the Void” and “Siren Song,” this new track is an absolute banger — but for different reasons.
You see, compared to the anthemic nature of “Call of the Void” and the groovy swing of “Siren Song,” “Demons” wades right out into the deep end of their punky and sludgy sound. According to frontman (and Cave In vocalist/guitarist) Steven Brodsky, that style choice for this track was absolutely intended right from the start.
“Mutoid Man played PsychoVegas in 2018 and to celebrate the occasion, we thought it’d be fitting to open with a cover of ‘Psycho’ by The Sonics. We learned the song about 20 minutes before our set, and had such a blast playing it that we decided to write our own little psycho jam. And with that, we present to you ‘Demons’ – enjoy!”
I really don’t want to belabor the point too much further. To say Mutants is a highly anticipated record for me would be downplaying it a smidge. So far, from what we’ve all heard, this thing is going to be an absolute banger. And while I’ve been proven wrong before with other artists and their output, there’s something potent about combining Brodsky with Converge drummer Ben Koller and High on Fire bassist Jeff Matz that makes me confident in the final product.
Mutants will release on July 28 via Sargent House, though you can preorder your copy today.
