Metallica Kids Are Heading on Tour with Their Bands OTTTO and Bastardane
It’s a good day to have fathers in the biggest heavy metal band of all time, it turns out. At least, that’s the only take I could really come up with when I received the news that OTTTO, featuring Tye Trujillo, and Bastardane, featuring Castor Hetfield, announced they’d be hitting the road together.
This summer, the two bands will strike it out on their own across North America, playing not only a wide range of local venues, but also a select number of “Metallica Weekend Takeover” gigs. You know — because they absolutely aren’t being given a leg up in the industry based on who their fathers are…
The tour will kick off on August 5 in New York City’s Gramercy Theatre on the same weekend that Metallica will be playing the Metlife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, and coming to an end at Detroit’s The Sanctuary on November 11 for another show linked to their fathers’ band’s world tour.
Looking forward to the tour, OTTTO frontman Bryan Noah Ferretti said the band was excited to share their debut with the world.
“We are very excited to be going back out on the road and taking Life Is A Game to new audiences.”
Similarly, Castor Hetfield said he and his fellow bandmates were excited to share the stage with OTTTO.
“We love music and we love the boys in OTTTO. WARNING: Mayhem, insanity, and ascension may occur.”
Both bands released their debut albums — OTTTO’s Life Is A Game and Bastardane’s Is This Rage? — in recent months, so it makes sense that they’d not only want to tour on the back of those releases, but also that they’d seek to use their familial connections to play bigger stages.
