New Cannibal Corpse Album Chaos Horrific Announced with New Single “Blood Blind”
Fans of Florida death metal stalwarts Cannibal Corpse should be extra fucking stoked this morning, as the band has just announced their 16th studio effort and their followup to Violence Unimagined, titled Chaos Horrific. Set for release on September 22 via Metal Blade Records, the album promises 10 skull-smashingly devastating tracks, including the album’s first single “Blood Blind,” which you can check out below.
This year marks the band’s 35th anniversary, and with today’s announcement of a new album, guitarist Rob Barrett said Chaos Horrific was the result of years of growth in their writing style — even if that style just comes naturally.
“I believe that our songwriting has progressed in a manner where every song paves its own path, whether it’s a straightforward or technical song. Sometimes it’s a mix of both, so there’s no preconceived idea that we want to be more technical. The music just sort of takes its own course.”
Reflecting on the first single “Blood Blind,” guitarist and producer Erik Rutan said the track was the first one from a music standpoint that the band worked on, setting the stage for the rest of the album to materialize.
“‘Blood Blind’ was the first song musically that I wrote for Chaos Horrific. It all started with that funeral march of a first riff floating around in my head and it took off from there. Heavy and disturbing, it worked its way into an aggressive smorgasbord of depth and swirling darkness! I thought it would be great to collaborate so I had Paul add his lyrical stamp to it…”
Along with the album and single reveal, the band announced that they’ll be heading on a month-long tour on the day Chaos Horrific drops. You can find a full list of tour dates below.
