Dolly Parton’s Song Featuring Rob Halford Rocks
It’s a combination that at face value just makes sense. Dolly Parton, international country music star and just honestly awesome individual, is putting out a rock record titled Rockstar after being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and she’s recruited a number of rock and metal musicians to pitch in.Then you have Rob Halford — the legendary Judas Priest frontman and self-described Dolly fan.
Bringing the two of them together for the newly released track “Bygones” predictably created something that actually sounds pretty damn good. Couple that with the fact that the song also features John 5 on guitar and Nikki Sixx’s backing tracks on bass and you’ve got a star-studded track on your hands.
Sure, it’s definitely more radio rock than the type of metal we tend to feature on the site, but it’s Dolly fucking Parton. I mean, I don’t know what else to say other than the track is pretty good.
Rockstar will be released on November 17 and will feature nine original songs and 21 covers. The full list of those tracks are as follows:
