Cavalera Brothers Explain Why They’re Going to Their Roots Bloody Roots for Upcoming Release
Igor and Max Cavalera are on a quest to make their old Sepultura days once the re-recorded versions of Sepultura’s first EP Bestial Devastation (1985) and the first LP Morbid Visions, coming out this July, more in line with what they always imagined in their heads.
While discussing the recently released single “Morbid Visions” for the Cavalera Conspiracy YouTube channel, the brothers described why it was important that they get a second crack at those releases. For Max, the importance of revisiting both Bestial Devastation and Morbid Visions allows them to make both of those offerings more in line with today’s current societal climate.
“As we get harder year after year, sometimes you’ve got to go back to where it all started! We re-recorded Bestial Devastation and Morbid Visions with the amazing sound of NOW, but with its raw and timeless spirit. The artwork reflects the times we’re living in right now…. Apocalyptic as hell! We also have two new tracks with riffs from those days, remembered by heart.”
Igor largely agreed with his brother, stating that the new versions of both of those classic Sepultura releases is giving them a chance to be the kind of albums they initially imagined when they worked on them about 30 years ago.
“I always felt like the recordings of our earlier work didn’t do justice to the way we performed the songs. So, this is a very special moment in our lives that we are very proud to show you real fans our true representation of the amazing records Bestial Devastation and Morbid Visions with an insane visual identity… Enjoy and see you all in the pit.”
Who knows if they’ll look to other past recordings with Sepultura if these new versions perform well? Would you want to hear them tackle something like Roots or Chaos A.D.? Let us know in the comments.
