Mötley Crüe’s New Music is Ready for Mixing
Glam metal legends Mötley Crüe are powering forward full speed ahead with new guitarist John 5, legal complications with former guitarist Mick Mars be damned. Bassist Nikki Sixx posted an update on social media sharing that new music from the Crüe has been recorded and is ready for the mixing stage.
“Recording in London England where so many of my hero’s [sic] are from ain’t a bad way to start the day.
“Hit the studio with Vince Neil today here in London. The new Mötley Crüe songs are 100% officially done and ready for mix.”
The new tunes—it’s unclear if they’re for an album, EP or something else—were produced by Bob Rock, who John 5 spoke to Eddie Trunk about working with.
“Bob would come in and [say], ‘Okay, let’s try this here, and that here and this here. It was one of the most incredible experiences ever… I’m thinking, ‘We’ve got so much great technology today’… but we got in that room and it was like being in a garage working on a song when you were in high school… It was incredible, and we documented a lot of it too.”
If the footage is ever released, it would be the second time that Bob Rock is featured in a documentary about a metal band struggling to keep things together. In the interview, John 5 also assured Trunk that the new music would be “heavy and aggressive” compared to Shout at the Devil, Mötley Crüe’s debut album.
Last month, Sixx claimed that Mars was being misled by legal representation and is “confused.”
“If a member of a band tells you that they can’t tour because of health reasons, you have two choices. You can quit as a band [after] 42 years of work. Or we could look at each other and go ‘are we done yet?!’ We’re really peaking and we understand [Mick ‘s] health issues.
“We wish him the best and we know that he’s a little bit confused and being misled by representatives right now. But we still have to stay focused on why we’re here.”
