Flotsam and Jetsam Cancel Their European Tour as Costs “Doubled, and in Some Cases Tripled”
Another day, another tour abroad gets the kibosh thanks to rising costs, as Flotsam And Jetsam announced that their slate of shows that were supposed to take place next month won’t be happening anymore.
According to a recent post on their social media, the band said things became untenable for them during the planning stage, resulting in their decision to axe the whole thing all together.
“It is with great disappointment that we need to cancel our June European shows. We hope our fans will understand and support us in this. Unfortunately, the costs associated with touring have doubled, and in some cases tripled.
“As is common with many US bands who have had to cancel touring plans overseas, we too are not immune to the higher costs that have been such a problem. Doing this run would have left us with a considerable loss which we cannot sustain, and for that reason we regrettably canceled these dates.
“We hope to see all of our European fans as soon as it is feasible.”
Just as they suggested in their announcement, Flotsam and Jetsam are just one band in a series of other bands that have canceled European tours for that very reason. Anthrax, Ministry, Ozzy, and The Agonist are just a few of the bands that have canceled their European tour plans in recent months. The same goes for European bands looking to make their way to the U.S., though that’s made even more complicated by the prospect that future visas will become more expensive in the near future.
Here’s hoping all this shit settles down and we can all enjoy some metal in our home countries sooner, rather than later.
