Watch Poppy Take Kittie’s “Spit” into the 21st Century
YouTuber turned nu-industrial/experimental madhat Poppy dropped a ridiculously killer cover of Kittie’s “Spit,” taking it from the groovy nu-metal song from the band’s 1999 debut album and turning it into a hyper-electronic nightmare.
As you’ll hear in the clip below, the Poppy version still retains some of the original song’s rhythmic backbone, but over top all that is a punchy, vicious industrial banger. The song’s is only heightened by the absolutely frenetic visuals created in its music video, directed by Jim Louvau.
Kittie has seen a bit of a resurgence as of late, so maybe Morgan Lander and the rest of that great Canadian export will get to see this version of their song. It’s definitely a spirited take on the original and worth your time.
Later this summer, Poppy will be on the road with PVRIS. You can find the list of dates below the video, as well as find links to grab yourself a ticket.
