AC/DC, Metallica, Iron Maiden and Ozzy Rumored to Headline Power Trip Festival
Break out the sunscreen because the metalheads are heading to Indio, California—better known as the home location for supermassive music festival Coachella—for Power Trip, a new Goldenvoice-produced hard rock and heavy metal festival rumored to host AC/DC, Metallica, Iron Maiden and Ozzy Osbourne as potential headliners.
The four aforementioned bands plus Tool all shared similar teaser videos on their social media yesterday, with each video featuring their respective logos. The full-lineup will officially be revealed tomorrow, March 30, but festival organizer Goldenvoice also shared a similar video, which makes it seem pretty unlikely that these bands won’t have top billing.
Power Trip is scheduled to take place at the Empire Polo Grounds, the location where Coachella is held yearly. Though it’s an elusive stage to many metal bands, Coachella generally features one or two each year and select events have been held at the venue outside of Coachella, such as when Metallica performed with Slayer, Anthrax and Megadeth in 2011 as part of the Big Four tour.
Goldenvoice previously also organized festival Desert Trip in the same location, featuring the Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney, Neil Young, Roger Waters, and The Who. It was jokingly called “Oldchella,” referring to the ages of the performers and the fest organizer.
