Lizzo Blurts Out Some Rammstein During Hamburg, Germany Show
When artists travel around the world, playing to crowds that may not necessarily speak their language, it’s not uncommon for that performer to find some cultural touchstone to touch upon for some extra points from the crowd. While playing a show in Hamburg, Germany, pop star and trained flutist Lizzo didn’t yammer on about bratwursts, lederhosen, or Oktoberfest. No, she chose one of the country’s biggest cultural exports of the last 30 or so years:
Rammstein.
While performing at the Hamburg Barclay’s Arena on Feb. 20, Lizzo paid tribute to the iconic industrial metal act by quickly shouting out some parts of “Du Hast,” off the band’s 1997 classic Sehnsucht. Naturally, as it’s always going to happen these days, the clip made its way onto social media.
Throughout the clip, she’s seen play singing/yelling phrases like “du hast,” “nein,” and strangely enough, “Oma,” which is German for grandma. Apparently she learned the world and figured “eh, this is close enough.”
After singing, the “Good As Hell” singer told the crowd, “Oh, Hamburg, I’m having fun bitch.”
Lizzo is slated to play in Germany tonight and tomorrow, so who knows if she’s learned some more Rammstein during her time in the country.
Later this year, Rammstein will kick off their European stadium tour on May 22 in Lituania. Their full list of tour dates can be found below.
