Pantera’s Rex Brown Joined Anthrax On Stage Last Night to Perform “Only” and “Domination”

Anthrax’s two month tour with Black Label Society and Exodus is winding down, with only a couple dates left before they collectively cool their heels for a bit and then everyone scatters to do other things. Charlie will get back to Pantera land and Scott Ian will get back to Mr. Bungle land ahead of their tour with the Melvins, Joey will probably go cover Journey some more… who knows?

As a tour of this magnitude winds down, that’s when you get to witness some really cool shit on stage. Take last night at the Revel Entertainment Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico, for example. Anthrax were on stage, doing their thing, when they got Pantera’s Rex Brown to come out in front of the crowd. With a bass in his hands, Brown participated in what was a two-song example of what Anthrax would sound like with a way beefier lower end as they played part of “Domination” and the John Bush-era banger “Only.”

Thankfully, people in attendance last night were wise enough to film the occasion, as you can see below courtesy of local southern metal act The Ground Beneath.

It’s super cool to see metal artists that are obviously good buddies rip through some songs on stage. And while I’m happy Anthrax are playing one of their best songs from The Sound of White Noise, it’s unfortunate that Joey’s gotta be thrust out of his vocal comfort zone. The dude just can’t handle Bush’s sound and swagger, making the overall performance sound… off.

If you’re in California and want to catch this tour before it rolls to a stop in Oakland, be sure to check ’em out either tomorrow or Saturday at the following locations.
