Metallica Raised $3 Million for Charity at Helping Hands Benefit Concert
Not only are Metallica the biggest metal band in the world, they’re also pretty decent human beings. The thrash metal OGs hosted the Helping Hands benefit concert in December 2022, which also featured Greta Van Fleet, raising $3 million that goes directly back to Metallica’s charity, the All Within My Hands Foundation.
According to the foundation’s website, All Within My Hands’ mission is “supporting workforce education, the fight against hunger, disaster relief, and other critical local services.” Executive director Peter Delgrosso said:
“The funds raised from the Helping Hands Concert and Auction will have a lasting impact on All Within My Hands’ ability to grow our Metallica Scholars Initiative, combat hunger, and aid in response to natural disasters. The Los Angeles event was the largest fundraiser in our history, and we profoundly appreciate the generosity of everyone involved. We could not have achieved these results otherwise.”
This isn’t Metallica’s first charity outing; as Consequence notes, covers of songs by popular artists from Metallica’s Black Album included on The Metallica Blacklist album raised over $1 million for various charities, including All Within My Hands.
Metallica’s next album, 72 Seasons, is due out on April 14 with extensive touring to follow.
