All Out War
Celestial Rot (Translation Loss)
New York metalcore bruisers All Out War have once again proven why they are one of the best to ever do the damn thing on Celestial Rot (available here). Taking a more blackened approach than previous releases, Mike Score and his bandmates capture feelings of icy grimness and gritty hardcore. Last month, the vocalist told MetalSucks that All Out War are happy to push themselves musically and it’s easy to see why with a record like Celestial Rot.

Endorphins Lost
Night People (To Live a Lie)
Seattle powerviolence/hardcore crew Endorphins Lost power through their latest scathing full-length, Night People. They don’t reinvent the wheel and there’s no need to—Night People is a straightforward burst of blast beats and breakdowns with lyrics that challenge the status quo. Fans of Spazz, Despise You and other West Coast powerviolence should tune in ASAP.
Korn
Requiem Mass (Loma Vista)
Recorded at their February show at the Hollywood United Methodist Church, Korn decided to release the plugged-in part of their set as a live album. It’s a cool live rarity if you’re a fan of the band and the CD comes with a copy of Korn’s most recent album, Requiem, in case you need to get caught up.
Memoriam
Rise to Power (Reaper Entertainment)
As the spiritual successor to Bolt Thrower, the bar for Memoriam will always be high. Fortunately, the UK death metal faction have cranked out another grooving rager with their fifth album, Rise to Power. Much like their American brethren in Obituary, you know exactly what you’re getting out of a new Memoriam album and we’ll raise a sword to that. Get it here.
Sanguisugabogg
Homicidal Ecstasy (Century Media)
Fortunately, it’s not nearly as hard to get into Sanguisugabogg’s music as it is to pronounce their name. Everything that’s made Sanguisugabogg’s music great up to this point—knuckledragging riffs and slams, toilet bowl vocals, pinging snare, hilariously over-the-top love of gore—is present on album number two, which clarifies that the band aren’t a passing fad or flash in the pan. Homicidal Ecstasy will remind you why brutal death metal rules when you keep it dirty and simple. Available via Gimme Metal.
