Stöner Announce New EP, Release a Cover of Pink Fairies’ “City Kids”
When it comes to desert rock, there are few names that really stand out among the cacti and oppressive heat than Nick Oliveri and Brant Bjork. With both having spent time in Kyuss, as well as Queens of the Stone Age and Fu Manchu, respectively, those two dudes know the ins and outs of the genre. So when they team up yet again as the supergroup Stöner with drummer Ryan Güt in tow and announce a new EP, you better be listening.
Titled Boogie to Baja and slated for a February 24 release through Heavy Psyche Sounds, the new studio effort will be a five-song trip in both the physical and psychedelic sense. According to the band, this new batch of songs promises to continue on in the spirit of last year’s debut release Stoners Rule and its followup totally…, which came out earlier this year.
“During the recording of totally…, we were having a blast and the music just kept rollin’ out so we decided to also put together a tasty EP. Guests Mario Lalli on “Stöner Theme” and Greg Hetson of Circle Jerks and Bad Religion on our version of the Motorhead/Pink Fairies classic “City Kids” makes this EP extra sweet. Jump in and let’s Boogie To Baja!”
You can check out their version of the Pink Fairies song “City Kids,” which was a B-Side to Motorhead’s single, “Motorhead.”
Along with a traditional CD release and its availability on streaming platforms, Boogie to Baja will have four different limited edition vinyl colors, as well as the normal black vinyl release. Boogie to Baja will release on February 24, 2023, though you can preorder your copy today.
