Dark Angel’s Michael Gonzalez Confirms That New Music is on the Way
If you’re a fan of old school thrash metal, then you’re probably going to be absolutely stoked about this next bit of news. After more than 30 years since their last full-length studio release, Dark Angel is back in the studio, plugging away at new music.
The news comes after bassist Michael Gonzalez let that information slip during a recent interview with Orange Curb. The band hasn’t released a new record since 1991’s Time Does Not Heal.
“Dark Angel — we are playing, the only announced show that we have so far for next year is in July, I believe, in Sweden. I want to say [Gelfe] spelled G-E-L-F-Y, Sweden, but it’s pronounced [Gävle]…We’re doing the [Gelfie Metal Festival], I believe in July. There will be some more dates announced pretty soon I believe.”
Gonzalez admitted that the band’s been saying that new music has been coming , just that it’s going to take some time. He’s not even the only one in the band that’s hinted at new music. Drummer and atomic clock Gene Hoglan has gone on record saying that new music from Dark Angel will be “the most aggressive Dark Angel music they can make.”
Only time will tell if this is all just hyperbole or if we’re on the cusp of some seriously kick ass thrash thanks to the guys in Death Angel.
