Ken Susi is on an “Extended Break” from Unearth and He’s Not on the New Record
Unearth’s got a new album in the works, but founding member and guitarist Ken Susi won’t be on it. In fact, he won’t be attached to anything related to the band for the time being, as he recently revealed some “differences in opinion” are why he’s currently on an “extended break” from the metalcore band.
During a recent livestream event where he took viewer questions on his YouTube page, Susi answered a fan question about his current status with the band. Rather than mince his words or give a non-answer, Susi instead opened up about his standing within the band.
“I am currently on a leave with Unearth. It is an extended, I guess how would you say, an extended break from Unearth. There’s definitely some stuff there that is kind of – it’s cool, both myself and the band have kind of come to terms with you know, our differences of opinion on certain things. I love those guys and I’m still supporting them. I hope they’re still supporting me.”
Susi had been in the band since its formation in the late 90s. While he didn’t get into specifics about those “differences of opinion,” he also said he was not involved in he new record at all.
I’m currently not a touring member of Unearth and I’m not featured on the record. I have one song that’s on it – I don’t know the name of it, I don’t know how it sounds. I don’t know the mix. I don’t know anything about it. It is what it is.”
We are waiting to hear back from the band about Susi’s comments. When we hear back, we’ll be sure to keep you updated. For now, you can check out Susi’s comments directly in the video below.
