Upon Desolation (Carbonized)
Death metal’s main album-of-the-year contender comes from California death dealers Mortuous, whose second album comes four long years after the release of their long-awaited Through Wilderness debut. The San Jose quartet just hit the road with Blood Incantation, Full of Hell and Vermin Womb for a lengthy North American run, so be sure to catch them live.

Heavy metal is alive and well in the hands of Philadelphia’s Sumerlands, whose new album Dreamkiller is out today. Their first with new vocalist Brendan Radigan, Dreamkiller captures the flair of classic heavy metal with a modern edge. Hopefully we don’t wait six years for the next one!
