Ozzy to Perform During an NFL Halftime Show Next Week

0

Despite ongoing medical issues and an ongoing battle with Parkinsons Disease, Ozzy Osbourne will be hitting the stage here in the states for the first time since 2018.

Earlier this week, it was announced that 73-year-old “Prince of Darkness” would be the halftime performer for the NFL season kickoff game between the Los Angeles Rams and the Buffalo Bills next Thursday, September 8.

While it’s not exactly the Super Bowl, which has been completely bereft of metal acts for far too long, it’s still a major moment to kick off the 2022-23 season. It’s also more importantly a nationally televised event that will help promote his upcoming album Patient Number 9.

According to organizers, Ozzy will be performing a medley of songs, though only a portion of that performance will be aired on NBC and Peacock.

News of this upcoming performance came just days after it was revealed that Ozzy’s been dealing with some severe medical issues stemming from past injuries he’s sustained. It’s been so bad that he recently told The Guardian that at one point he said the pain was so unbearable that thought “Oh God, please don’t let me wake up tomorrow morning.” He also said his condition was so bad he questioned whether he would ever be able to perform again.

Still, Ozzy’s not going anywhere anytime soon. He and his family are planning a 10-part return to reality TV with Home to Roost for BBC One and iPlayer that will focus on his return to the U.K. He’s also going to be out and about promoting Patient Number 9, which will be available worldwide on September 9 and is currently available for preorder today via Epic.
