Get a Big Rip of Sleep’s Dopesmoker Now That It’s Back on Streaming Services
Earlier this week, we told you about the special edition vinyl pressing of Dopesmoker that has a literal freaking cannabis leaf in it. We thought that was about the extent of our Sleep news for the week, but thankfully, that’s not the case.
Several months after its removal from music streaming services once the rights were transferred from Southern Lord Recordings to Third Man Records, the seminal stoner metal album is back for the masses to enjoy anywhere they want to light one up. Also included in the album’s return is the rare Sleep song “Hot Lava Man.”
If streaming music isn’t your thing, the aforementioned vinyl repressings are coming soon. According to Third Man Records, the extra special variant with the weed in it is called the “Weedian High-Fi” edition. There will also be a plain black vinyl pressing if you’re too boring for the pot leaf or you can’t get out to Third Man Records Cass Corridor in Detroit, which will be the only place to get the pot-laden version.

As a connoisseur myself, I should warn you that the seven-pointed leaf found inside the vinyl isn’t what actually gets you high. Only the plant’s buds carry enough THC to macrame your ass to the couch.
That being said, cannabis is still recognized as an illegal substance, so it’s probably pretty hard to procure the leaves and ship the final product across state lines.
Regardless, the online version is not available to enjoy at your leisure. Spark one up, lay back, and enjoy the tunes this weekend.
