Demon Hunter Drop Heavy-Ass New Track “Freedom Is Dead”
Last we heard about Christian metalcore crew Demon Hunter was in January, where it was revealed that they’d be taking the stage at this year’s Furnace Fest. Now, the band have dropped a new single, “Freedom Is Dead,” which you can listen to below.
Upon first spin, the lyrics of “Freedom Is Dead” seem to be about the widespread idea that you’re not allowed to say or do anything anymore, which is definitely getting a little played out (then again, the vocals are mad harsh, so maybe we’re way off). We don’t really think that means freedom is dead, honestly — but whether you do agree with that or not, you can’t deny that this track is fucking heavy, even for Demon Hunter. The thrashy breaks and staccato rhythms keep the listener on their toes, making this a song you have to listen to, if only to hear what the band are going to do next. So whatever it’s about, we give Demon Hunter a nod of approval for doing something this loud and outwardly hostile.
You can catch Demon Hunter this September at Furnace Fest, which will take place on September 23rd, 24th, and 25th at Sloss Furnaces in Birmingham, AL.
