Sh*t That Comes Out Today – May 27, 2022
Regardless of the details, we could all use some new music this week. Let’s dive in…
Decapitated
Cancer Culture (Nuclear Blast)
The new Decapitated album is technical, extreme, and to the point. Joined by a nice handful of guest vocalists from bands like Jinjer and Machine Head, Decapitated show their dexterity in working with others and expanding their musical dynamics for a modern pace. Honest to goodness, hardworking, extreme music, just in time for the weekend.
Hollow Front
The Price Of Dreaming (UNFD)
Sometimes you just want to hear someone raging. We’ve got a lot of terrible shit going on in the world and it’s nice to have a band like Hollow Front ready to deliver some catharsis. From its elevating and ethereal breakdowns to its truly emotional lyrical content and vocal delivery, this album is a much needed release after a heavy week. Throw on some headphones, settle in, and give it a listen.
Mournful Congregation
The Exuviae Of Gods – Part I EP (Osmose)
Prepare to be devoured by the weight of these deliriously heavy tracks. What is it about funeral doom that makes it so incredibly satisfying? Is it the spirit of the awakened nihilist? Is it the dark, mournful guitars and guttural depth-filled vocals? All of these Mournful Congregation have so exquisitely utilized on their new EP. Check it out for a satiating, body-numbing escape from this mortal coil.
Trollfest
Flamingo Overlord (Napalm)
I found this album about as enjoyable as getting glitter bombed after a fresh shower. But I’m not into fun music with any other purpose than relinquishing the soul from its eternal anguish. That being said, this is still a very silly, discombobulated mess of music. If I had to say three nice things, I’d say it’s eccentric, eclectic, and boozier than ever. I don’t like it. You might though, so there’s that.
