Video: Corey Taylor Stops Slipknot Set Mid-Song So That Medics Can Reach Injured Fan
Last year, poor planning and shitty security turned Travis Scott’s Astroworld Festival into an unmitigated disaster, resulting in nine attendees dying and hundreds being injured. If there is any upside to this horrible tragedy, it is that musicians are more concerned with the safety of their fans than ever, and readier to stop shows to make sure everyone’s okay. Case in point, footage has emerged of Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor stopping the band’s April 11th set in Winnipeg mid-song in order to help medics reach and injured fan.
As you’ll see in the video below via The Pit, Corey stopped Slipknot’s show because a fan had been injured. The crowd, of course, were quick to applaud Corey, but the vocalist focused on getting his fan to safety, asking people to give the medics room and quiet down until everything is 100% back on track:
“All right, guys, make sure they got room, make sure they got room. Everybody back up, give ’em room, give ’em room…Everybody back up. Make some room. They can’t breathe if everybody’s around them..Hold on, guys, no applause yet. I want to make sure they’re okay. I want to make sure they get out of the pit, 100% okay…Make some noise for the medics.”
Good on Taylor. Woulda been real easy to just point security at a guy and keep going.
