Stream Abbath’s New Album Dread Reaver Right Now
Cow-painted frost-wrestler Abbath has been steadily releasing singles from his upcoming new album Dread Reaver lately. First, he dropped the ripping “Dream Cull” with the record’s announcement, then he put out the galloping title track, and finally the steamrolling “The Book of Breath.” But now, fans don’t have to wait any further to hear new Abbath, as the dude is streaming his album in its entirety — and you can listen to it below.
Abbath’s Dread Reaver is streaming via the artist’s label, Season of Mist. The album is 1,000% everything you expect from it, specifically warrior-brooding-in-an-ice-cavern music. Oh, it’s not all morose and introspective — there’s definitely a lot of rage and energy here, that real taut-muscled scowling music that Abbath is well known for. But fans of the dude’s side-project I might be more enamored by this than Immortal fans will be. This definitely isn’t cruel, grim black metal, but fun, old-school barbarian thrash. You know, the good shit, the shit that makes you pose in your bedroom mirror.

The record was produced by Endre Kirkesola, Abbath, and Dag Erik Nygaard, mixed by Abbath and Kirkesola, and mastered by Maor Appelbaum (Mayhem, Faith No More, William Shatner, etc.). The album art was created by Bjørn Stian Bjoarvik.
