Plan Ahead for Metal Festivals in 2022: What are Some of the Best to Get Ready For?

0

Nothing matches metal for its passion, ferocity and aesthetic. From the stellar musicianship to the intricate orchestrations to the intense live shows, it doesn’t get any better for those that like their music dark and heavy!

When it comes to live music, metal festivals in particular are always popular with fans. They not only give you the chance to see some of the best bands around in person — including some you might not ordinarily venture out to see on their own — but to party, meet up with friends and get away from normal life for a few days. Especially with much of the live music industry shut down for the past two years, metal fans are already looking ahead to the best metal music festivals that 2022 has to offer.

Before you book your tickets and pack your bags, remember to think carefully about not only where you go, but what you bring with you. Comfortable footwear and ample backup mobile chargers are a must, for example.

Before leaving your phone at home, consider that you’ll need to stay in contact with friends at the festival as well as take a break and catch up on life when not watching bands. From choosing to play safely on this online casino site when chilling out to watching movies or checking out social media, mobiles can be a great change of pace after 14 straight hours of live music. Also don’t forget to take other essentials, such as a tent, toiletries and a sleeping bag if you are staying overnight.

Once you have all this in order, which metal festivals in 2022 should be on your radar?

Maryland Deathfest – May 2022

This legendary death metal festival takes place in Baltimore from May 26 through May 29 and is certainly worth heading over to. It is actually part of a series of ‘Deathfest’ events in 2022 which take place in other locations, including a California version at the end of January and a Netherlands event in April.

Some of the bigger names booked to play include Morbid Angel, Carcass and Dismember, as well as a slew of underground talent from the more extreme end of the metal spectrum. MDF is always a blast and full of new fans to meet, an absolute can’t-miss for 2022.

Download Festival – June 2022

This is one of the most famous metal festivals in the world and is set to take place again in the summer of 2022. Set up in place of the iconic Monsters of Rock festival at Donnington Park in Leicestershire, U.K., Download occupies the same site and began in 2003. The 2022 version is set to run from June 10 to June 12 and has some awesome names on the bill.

While metal fans might give the pantomime histrionics of KISS a miss, Iron Maiden will surely be a major draw and will be playing material from their latest album. A review of Senjutsu from Iron Maiden could be helpful if you haven’t heard it yet.

Alongside these elder statesmen of metal, top acts like Korn, Deftones, Megadeth, Sepultura and Wargasm are also set to wow the crowd. As the last true Download was in 2019, expect this to be a real celebration of music with a very lively atmosphere.

Hellfest – June 2022

Metal fans may well want to keep June 2022 pretty clear in their calendar because it is set to be a busy time for festivals! Taking place just after Download on June 17 through 19, Hellfest in France is looking to be one you cannot miss. When you learn that over 350 bands have been booked to appear across nine stages, you get a sense of how immense it will be.

The sheer number of acts means that there will be no shortage of big names here, including Metallica, Judas Priest, Nine Inch Nails and Avenged Sevenfold. This year’s Hellfest is actually a two-weekend event to make up for lost time and also runs across June 23 to June 26, meaning you should still be able to score tickets for some of the days and experience exactly what makes it so special.

2022 set to be an awesome year for metal festivals

The coming 12 months are set to be an amazing year for metal festivals. The really cool thing is that these events only scratch the surface of what is planned for 2022. There are lots of other metal-themed festivals happening around the world to attend – a quick internet search throws up plenty to consider! All this is fabulous news for fans of metal who like to get out and experience the hard-hitting thrills this music provides live, especially after a couple of down years.
