Video: Teacher Asks Students to Name One Song by Band on Their Shirt
It’s no secret that band shirts have become a fashion statement as often as as an expression of fandom in recent years, with a number of major retailers selling wares by famous rock acts and celebrities spotted donning them publicly.
That trend has unsurprisingly expanded to children, with our youngest music fans sporting shirts advertising the famous bands of yesteryear. One middle school teacher decided to find out whether her students knew any songs by the artist whose shirt they were wearing — or if they even knew who was on their shirt at all — and filmed their responses, stitching them together into a TikTok video that has gone viral.
The clip, posted by PE teacher Brittney Jacobs, shows her students wearing threads from Metallica, Kiss, Aaliyah, Nirvana, Prince and The Rolling Stones. When she asks, “Do you know who’s on your shirt? Can you name one song by them?” they inevitably shake their head no, after which she deadpans, “Exactly.”
