Dave Grohl Posts Hanukkah-Themed Cover of Kiss’s “Rock and Roll All Nite”
Foo Fighters mainmain Dave Grohl and producer Greg Kurstin have posted the eighth and final offering of this year’s The Hanukkah Sessions, an eight-night affair in which they pay tribute to Jewish musicians by covering songs in their own unique style.
The duo’s 2021 Hanukkah swansong finds them paying tribute to Kiss members Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons, both of Jewish heritage, with a cover of the band’s hit “Rock and Roll All Nite.” They commented:
“Ladies and gentlemen…. we made it. Night 8! And what better way to celebrate another year of Hanukkah Sessions than Chaim Witz and Stanley Eisen…. two young lads from Queens that set the world (and thousands of stages) on FIRE as Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley.”
We haven’t written up every one of Grohl and Kurstin’s Hanukkah covers, but a few we did include Van Halen’s “Jump,” a brutal metal version of Lisa Loeb’s “Stay” and a Yiddish-themed take on The Ramones’ “Blitzkrieg Bop.”
You can watch the video for “Rock and Roll All Nite” below, which features the two performing the tune cut in with footage of some decidedly un-rock-and-roll activities. Hopefully Grohl and Kurstin bring this series back for round three next year… it’s been fun!
