Stryper’s Michael Sweet Calls Women Who Take “Abortion Pills” on Video “A Whole New Level of Evil”
The New York Times reports that “The Supreme Court seemed poised on Wednesday to uphold a Mississippi law that bans abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy.” This isn’t good news. If I have to explain to you why it’s not good news, you’re probably already a lost cause. You can call yourself “pro-life” all the live-long day, but really, you’re just opposed to a woman’s right to have agency over her own body. And don’t even get me started on the people who are somehow anti-choice and anti-vaxx. I don’t know how those people say “My body my choice” without their heads exploding from the hypocrisy.
It probably won’t come as a huge shock to people that one such militant anti-choicer is Michael Sweet, frontman for the devoutly Christian band Stryper. A group of women were caught on video this week standing outside the Supreme Court and protesting the Mississippi law by taking pills while chanting slogans like “Abortion pills forever” and “Abortion pills are in our hands, and we won’t stop.”
Sweet, a well-known eurotophobe, shared the video on social media, along with this scholarly insight:
“When women are shamelessly and proudly taking ‘abortion pills’ on video with smiles on their faces, isn’t that a whole new level of evil?
“Sometimes I feel like I’m the only one who feels this way. How and why is this acceptable in our world? Are we really this far gone? Celebrating the death of the unborn!!
“God help us and save us……..
“#prolife#godhelpus#evil#life”
Sweet’s assertions are so patently dumb they’re almost not offensive (almost). Let’s break this down bit-by-bit:
“When women are shamelessly and proudly taking ‘abortion pills’ on video with smiles on their faces, isn’t that a whole new level of evil?”
A “whole new level” of evil? Seriously? Michael Sweet thinks what these women are doing is beyond genocide. In his opinion, no one in history has ever seen anything as vile as a woman with a right to choose. His wife is SUCH a lucky woman.
“Sometimes I feel like I’m the only one who feels this way.”
Oh yeah. There’s only one anti-choice person in the world, and it’s Michael Sweet. I guess that’s why the Supreme Court is about ten seconds away from overturning Roe v. Wade: because they kowtow to the whims of a singer that was kinda popular 35 years ago.
The right LOVES to paint themselves as the underdogs this way. They are plainly full of shit.
“Are we really this far gone? Celebrating the death of the unborn!!”
These women aren’t celebrating the death of the unborn. They’re celebrating — again — having freedom over their own bodies. Ever spoken to a woman who’s had an abortion, Mikey? Did they strike you as being particularly celebratory about it? Something can be in someone’s best interests and sad at the same time. Life contains multitudes.
“God help us and save us……..”
I will bet every penny I have that God never actually gets involved. Just a hunch. If He (let’s assume Sweet believes God is male) does get involved, though, I hope it’s mostly to teach Michael Sweet how periods are used in an ellipses……..
Sweet, ever the alarmist, also bemoaned the impending cancelation of The Bible earlier this year. Last I checked, though, The Good Book is still readily available.
