Police Report Filed in Brass Against Pee Incident
The Brass Against on-stage pee incident that has captured the metal internet’s attention in recent days has taken another twist: someone filed a police report in relation to the incident. New details about the events that led to the golden shower heard ’round the world have also come to light.
In case you missed it, Brass Against frontwoman Sophia Urista peed on a fan’s face on stage during the band’s Welcome to Rockville performance on Thursday, November 11. After saying during the band’s performance that she badly had to go to the bathroom but couldn’t because the show was in progress, one fan accepted her invitation to bask in her golden shower during their cover of Rage Against the Machine’s “Wake Up.” You can watch incident of the video below (NSFW).
The band later issued a public apology, saying, “Sophia got carried away. That’s not something the rest of us expected, and it’s not something you’ll see again at our shows.”
The Daytona Beach News-Journal [via Consequence] reports that Daytona Beach police received a message about the incident on their Facebook page and responded by advising the complainant to file a report, which she did. The department is currently looking into the matter.
Florida statute 800.03 makes it unlawful for someone to “expose his or her sexual organs in public or on the private premises of another, or so near thereto as to be seen from such private premises, in a vulgar or indecent manner.” The crime is punishable by up to a year in jail or a $1,000 fine, and while we find it unlikely Urista will do any jail time as a result of this incident she’s likely lawyering up at the moment.
The report also gives some additional background as to how the man ended up on stage with Urista kneeled over him. Urista told the audience she had to use the bathroom, and then, pointing at a man with a camera mounted to his head, said, “Get my man with the can on his head ready, ’cause we’re going to bring him onstage and I’mma piss in this motherfucker’s mouth.” She added, “I gotta pee, and I can’t make it to the bathroom. So we might as well make a show out of it.” Sophia herself cleaned up the mess left on stage after the show.
The New York-based brass collective, which is best known for their orchestrated covers of famous rock songs, will be on tour with Tool next year. No word yet on whether those shows will be streaming ????.
